For close to 15 years, Mission Possible has been mobilizing the Body of Christ to minister to the less fortunate of our city. We’ve made in-roads to the community by planting ministries like Church Under The Bridge, Camp Nikos , Tree of Lights and Project intercept, that have since become institutions. These programs are now self-supporting and being run by Churches outside of Mission Possible.

In early 2005, a community-based, non-profit organization called CSI (Community Service Initiative) was launched to rally our community to perform acts of compassion and service, not only to the less-fortunate, but to our city as a whole.  We are certain that in time, the programs and initiatives of CSI will join the ranks of those listed above that have been so effective in Austin .

One CSI initiative we have high hopes for asks the question, what if we did a “light show” for the Glory of God?  One day each year when churches could serve their city in a way that would give cause for people to ask about the hope that lies within us.  What could such a day accomplish for the church as a whole?  Well, the city of Austin will soon find out.

CSI is currently promoting an event called “ShareFest Austin” on November 19th 2005, and seeks a small group of Church leaders and pastors who want to find a way for the Body of Christ to demonstrate with their actions what we have been declaring with our words. We are looking for believers with a conviction to provide proof of the gospel, not just proclamation.

Often times, churches and their surrounding communities don’t communicate with each other, while at the same time, the dialog continues within the Church as to how it can impact its community.  Do we build an attractive building?  Do we attempt evangelistic outreach door to door?   And churches wonder why it is that they grow by transfer, but not by new birth.

We trust that ShareFest will become a bridge from the church to the community, providing a biblical and philosophical foundation for faith.  This bridge will live and breathe, constructed as it is, of people from churches all over the Austin area who understand that when it comes to sharing God’s love, actions speak much louder than words.

We hope to find 15 churches of diverse backgrounds and denominational traditions to sponsor this event.  Churches that are willing to unite together in a strategic and visible demonstration of Christ’s love for our community through an annual event of joint service and worship.

If you would like to become involved in the organization of this yearly event, please call Mission Possible at 494-0953 soon!
