Mission

There are two halves to our mission, the first being an effort to mobilize the Body of Christ (The Church) to respond to God's call to share the gospel in East Austin.  N.Y.A.C.C. houses many ministries where those with a willingness to serve can get involved with programs focused on evangelism, social action, economic development and justice.

The other half of our mission revolves around an effort to enable individuals to break cycles of poverty and injustice.  In this way, we demonstrate the love of God with no agenda beyond improving the quality of life among the poor...or to put it in Biblical terms...to love our neighbor as we love ourselves.

Project Methodology

We will accomplish our Mission in the East Austin Community with projects and programs  that are:

Transformational - Our goal is true community transformation that is systemic and sustainable.

Holistic - We address physical, spiritual, relational, economic, political, educational, social, and other issues.

Community-based - It is our goal that development projects are initiated and meet specific needs of the community itself.

Sustainable - Solutions must be sustainable by the community without depending on long-term support from outside professionals or resources.

Networked - We work with local organizations, educational institutions, church and mission groups, development professionals, the business community and more.

Accountable - Well-defined, measurable objectives are agreed upon by community representatives and by Mission Possible.  Outcomes are continually assessed, evaluated and re-evaluated.

Realistic - We understand that no single individual or agency has all the answers, and that prosperity alone does not make a community healthy.
